Centerville Girls participate in State "B" Basketball Tournament

The young Tornadoes blew into the Huron Arena ready to play basketball. In first round action, the Tornadoes defeated a very strong Corsica/Stickney team 55-49. Second round action found Centerville playing an undefeated Newell "Irrigators" team. The Tornadoes gave Newell all they could handle until the Irrigators pulled away in the fourth quarter and downed the Tornadoes 71-57. Third round action matched Centerville up with the Highmore/Harold "Pirates". The Tornadoes had this game won until a last second shot by the Pirates that put Highmore/Harold ahead for good.

The Centerville girls should be very proud of their play at the state tournament and throughout the year. Congratulations on your participation in the State "B" Tournament.

State "B" Boys Tournament

The Viborg Vikings took their show on the road to Aberdeen, to participate in their second State "B" tournament. They did not make this venture alone. A sea of RED fill the Barnett center. Many fans, young and old alike were there to cheer on their Vikings! The boys did not disappoint their fans, as they fought hard every minute of each game. For their effort, they boys brought home the 3rd place trophy. Congratulations to all who put forth such a great effort!

The Cheerleaders of Viborg were once again awarded the "Spirit of Six" for the second year in a row. We want to congratulate the girls and their coach for all the hard work and effort they have put in over the year to cheer on the Viking Boys.

Congratulations to the Viborg Vikings for taking 1st place in the Tri-Valley Conference Tournament. They beat the Centerville Tornadoes in a hard fought battle by the score of 54-48. Third place went to the Bloomfield, Neb. Bees, beating Hurley 55-36. Gayville-Volin was awarded the Consolation Championship by beating Irene-Wakonda in overtime 55-52. Seventh place went to the Alcestor-Hudson Cubs, as they downed Freeman Academy 51-38. Congratulations to the Viborg Lady Vikings for capturing the Tri-Valley Conference Tournament championship, beating the Centerville Tornadoes 54-30. The Hurley Bulldogs took 3rd place over the IW Eagles 44-34. The Consolation Championship went to the Alcester-Hudson Cubs as they held off Freeman Academy 47-43. Menno Wolves take 3rd at State "B" Boys Basketball Tournament

The Menno Wolves won in first round action against Hitchcock-Tulare 63-45 to advance in the winners bracket. In the second round of tournament action, the Wolves found themselves facing the defending State Champion White River Tigers. In a hard fought battle, the Tigers outlasted the Wolves 34-30. Saturday's game would match Menno against Elkton-Lake Benton. The Wolves would have no problem capturing the 3rd place trophy. The final score was 62-46. Viborg Captures State "B" Boys Basketball Consolation Championship & Cheerleaders win Spirit of "6"

Congratulations to the Viborg Boys Basketball Team for their accomplishments at the 2009 State Basketball Tournament. In first round action the Vikings fell to the eventual State Champions Sully Buttes 65-62. Second round action saw the boys come back to defeat the Herreid Yellowjackets 69-47. The win over Herreid would advance the Vikings into the Consolation Championship against the Avon Pirates. In a tough fought battle the Vikings came out on top 45-43.

The Vikings also had individual accomplishments. Cory Jacobsen & Brandon DeVries were selected to the All Tourney Team, and Kevin Danielsen was the assist leader for all teams with a total of 27 for the tournament.

The Viking Cheerleaders keep the crowd enthused and brought home the "Spirit of 6" award.

Viking Boys Make History

For the first time ever, the boys basketball team will make an appearance at the State Basketball Tournament. The Vikings downed Bridgewater-Emery 58-39 in Region play. They will be the 3rd seed going into the tournament. Viborg will take on #6 seed Sully Buttes at 8:45, March 19th at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen. Good luck to the boys!! Two seniors we photographed this fall accomplished milestones in their athletic career.

Last year, Alyssa Kraning from Viborg scored her 1000th point Jan 10th during the Irene-Wakonda game. This year Jan 6th, during the Trip-Delmont-Armour game she pulled down her 1000th rebound. For anyone who has played high school basketball, you know what an accomplishment this is.

Bo LaCroix from Hurley, scored his 1000th career point during the Bridgewater-Emery game. Bo is an exciting player to watch, as any of you who watched him help the Hurley Bulldogs win the 2007 Boys State Championship can attest to.

It has been a lot of fun watching these two outstanding players during their high school career. Both Alyssa & Bo put in a lot of time and hard work in the off season to better their basketball skills. It is obvious that it has paid off. Congratulations to the both of you, and good luck with the rest of the season.

Jan 15-17th the Girls Tri-Valley Conference Tournament was held. The Viborg Vikings captured 1st place over the Freeman Academy Bobcats. 3rd place went to a young Centerville team in a close game over Irene-Wakonda. The Gentle Giant

Melissa brought Bubba in for a photo shoot in Nov. Bubba is an English Mastiff. At first sight, one might be a little nervous. However, after just a few moments with him, he captured our hearts. I believe Melissa said Bubba weighed in at about 160 lbs. He was a complete gentleman, and put a sizable dent into our doggie treats. (He was so well behaved, I couldn't resist!!) Thanks for bringing Bubba to our studio Melissa.

Back to School

In the digital world, the art of photography is ever changing. Todd and I are constantly awed at all of the changes that occur in this business. Not only trying to keep up with the hottest ideas, but with all of the equipment a studio needs just to keep things going. (Computers, software, printers, cameras (sorry Todd you can't have that new camera yet!!), props, etc.....) We try to keep up to date with new ideas, so we can offer the best to our clients.

So, back to school we go!! Todd & I went to the Professional Photographers of America Convention in Phoenix, Arizona Jan 11-13th. The convention is a combination of educational opportunities and a tradeshow. Classes would start at 7:00a.m. and run through the evening. We split up and attended different classes, so we could gain as much information as possible. Several of our photographer friends also attended, and we had a great time with them. I believe we can learn just as much from each other as we do in class. We were able to visit with photographers from across the nation about new ideas and new techniques. We value their advice and their friendship.

We did take a extra day to view the Grand Canyon. It was beautiful. Sometimes, you just need to get away and enjoy the beauty that God created!!

The last couple of months have been somewhat of a blur for us. The Christmas season is always busy.

During such a busy time of year, we often forget to step back and take a look at the many things we are so grateful and fortunate to have. We have been so fortunate to have met so many wonderful people through our business. We have made many friends along the way. We are grateful to all of our clients and schools for doing business with us. We love to keep in touch with you and thoroughly enjoy going to school events and watching all of the kids excel.

We are also blessed with three healthy girls (Katie 18, Samantha 15 & Zoe 11), who during the busy season, step up and take on some extra duties while mom and dad put in long hours in the studio. Thanks! We couldn't do it without you!!

We hope all of you had a blessed Christmas, and we wish you a happy and healthy New Year.

Hurley-Marion Cobras State Champs!!!

Congratulations to the Hurley-Marion Cobras, the State 9AA Football Champions. The Cobras travelled to the University of South Dakota Dakotadome on Thursday to take on the Ipswich Tigers. It was a great game to watch played by two awesome teams but in the end the Cobras came out on top with a 42-28 win. Way to go Cobras, we're proud of you.
